Two Factor Authentication

Two Factor Authentication is a security process where the credentials for an account, process or verification requires a second form of authentication in order to be accepted. Two Factor Authentication can include a security token, biometric scans or a device such as a Yubikey. This added security measure is more secure than just a normal password since it requires access to another form of data in addition to a password.

YubiKey is a device that can be used for two-factor and multi-factor authentication, one-time passwords, and public-key encryption and authentication. It uses the FIDO2 protocol to make authentication easier and more efficient. The device utilizes USB-A and NFC interfaces in conjunction with finger sensors, making security more efficient and able to be unique to an individual. YubiKey can also create One-Time-Passwords (OTP) that require access to the YubiKey to crack.
